FARIDABAD: The city was on Tuesday abuzz with men of the police force, aided by other auxiliary forces, at practically all strategic points. Reason: The office of the deputy commissioner on Monday received a postcard, dated October 1, with a forewarning that seven places will be bombarded on October 7. The sender claimed to be a member of the Indian Mujahidin.
The seven places named in the postcard, written in Hindi, were NH-1 Market, Vaishnav Devi Temple, Old Faridabad Railway Station, B K Civil Hospital, Fortis Escorts Hospital, SRS Mall of Sector-12 and Shubham Tower. The police set up pickets at entry to all these places, searched all vehicles and frisked all persons visiting these places. Entry of vehicles into NH-1 Market was totally suspended. Police personnel were noticeable in full force, assisted by a bomb disposal squad, sniffer dogs and metal detectors. Tight security was visible everywhere and those desirous of entering these places were issued entry slips. Speaking to Times City, SSP Shrikant Jadhav said, "This is the first mail received from the so-called Indian Mujahidin and we could not just ignore it. We are investigating the source of the postal mail. Meanwhile, no untoward incident has been reported from any corner until now."
